Beach Vacation With a Baby: The Complete Checklist

A beach day with a baby is wonderful with the right setup and a little chaotic without it. Here is the full checklist I use so we stay shaded, safe, and sand-free enough to actually relax.

Sun and shade (non-negotiable)

A pop-up shade tent or UV umbrella, babies need shade, not direct sun
Baby-safe sunscreen (check age guidance) plus a wide hat and UV swimsuit
A lightweight muslin to drape for extra shade

Comfort and naps

A travel bassinet or a blanket in the shade for naps
A portable fan to keep baby cool
Extra water and feeding supplies, heat means more hydration

The sand-free tricks

Baby powder removes sand from skin easily
A fitted-sheet play corral (prop the corners with bags) keeps baby contained
A wet/dry bag for sandy, wet things
