Velvet Teddy is the one I recommend first because it flatters so many people. It is a soft neutral nude that looks like a polished version of your natural lip. If you are only buying one MAC lipstick, I would start there.
Do I really need a lip liner?
You do not need one, but liner is what makes a nude lip look intentional and stops it from feathering. Whirl and Spice are the two I use most. Even just lining and lightly filling with the pencil under your lipstick makes a big difference in how long it lasts.
Are MAC matte lipsticks drying?
They can feel a little dry if your lips are not prepped, so I always swipe on balm first and let it soak in. Once you do that, the matte formulas wear comfortably for me through a whole busy day.
