I did not want a whole classroom taking over my house, and I definitely did not want anything that felt sterile. I wanted a warm little corner where we could sit, learn, and actually want to be. That is exactly what we made.
Everything here is simple and mostly from Amazon. If you are trying to carve out a homeschool spot without a whole renovation, this is what worked for us.

A kid-sized table and chairs
The right height makes such a difference for little hands and focus. We chose a simple set that wipes clean easily because, well, kids.

How much space do you really need?
A corner is plenty. We use one small area of a shared room. You do not need a dedicated room, just a consistent spot your child associates with learning.
How do you keep the supplies from taking over?
Vertical storage and closed bins. Getting things up on the wall and into labeled bins keeps the table clear and my mind clearer.
Does it have to look cute to work?
Not at all, but I found that a space I liked being in made me more consistent. A little warmth and good light go a long way for both of us.
