What Helps Me Sleep and Stress Less

A cozy nighttime wind-down setup with a warm mug
My little wind-down kit for the end of a long mom day.

Sleep is complicated when you have a baby, I know. Some nights are just not in my control. But the nights that are in my control, I have gotten a lot better at protecting, because how I sleep decides how the whole next day goes.

Here is what genuinely helps me wind down and stress less. Quick reminder that I am not a doctor, everyone is different, and you should check with yours before starting anything new, especially if you are nursing or on medication. These are just the calming things that work for me.

My evening wind-down

Natural Vitality Calm Magnesium

A warm mug of Calm is my signal that the day is done. I sip it after the kids are finally asleep, and it has become a ritual I look forward to. The routine of it is calming on its own, honestly, on top of the magnesium.

OLLY Sleep Gummies

For the nights my brain will not stop replaying my to-do list, these help me ease into sleep. I save them for the truly wired nights instead of every day. Everyone responds differently, so start small and check with your doctor.

My stress support

Nature Made Ashwagandha

During high-stress stretches, ashwagandha is part of my routine to help me feel a little more even. When I am calmer, I sleep better, so this one does double duty for me. As always, this is worth running by your doctor first.

Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega

My daily omega-3 is part of my overall wellness support, and I keep it in my routine year-round. It has no fishy aftertaste, which made it easy to stick with. A simple foundational piece of feeling my best.

The little comforts that help

Mulberry Silk Pillowcase

A silk pillowcase makes my bed feel like a small upgrade every night, and it is gentle on my hair and skin too. It is one of those tiny luxuries that costs a little but makes bedtime feel more inviting.

Owala FreeSip Water Bottle

Being dehydrated makes me feel wired and headachy at night, so I keep water on my nightstand. My Owala is spill-friendly enough that I can grab a sip in the dark without soaking the bed. Small thing, real difference.

Physician's Choice Probiotics

Gut health and how I feel overall are connected for me, so my daily probiotic stays in the routine. I take it in the morning, but it is part of the bigger picture of feeling settled and less run-down at the end of the day.

My tip: The best sleep trick I have is putting my phone across the room. No supplement competes with scrolling in bed for an hour. Charge it out of reach, and let the warm mug of Calm be the last thing you reach for instead.

Frequently asked questions

What helps you fall asleep on a wired night?

A warm mug of Calm, phone across the room, and on the really restless nights an OLLY Sleep gummy. Mostly it is the wind-down ritual that signals to my brain that we are done for the day. Everyone is different, so find the routine that soothes you.

Are sleep supplements safe to take every night?

I personally use mine only on the wired nights rather than daily, and I would not want anyone to rely on them without talking to a doctor. If you are having ongoing sleep trouble, that is a real conversation to have with your provider.

What helps with stress that is not a supplement?

Water, a few minutes outside, and putting my phone down do more than any bottle. When I am dehydrated and glued to my screen, everything feels worse. The supplements are just a small support on top of those basics.
