How My Dad's Book Supports the Victory Legacy Foundation
I already shared the story behind my dad's book, Victory For Life. There's another part of the launch to talk about: the foundation it supports. The book's launch materials state that 100% of proceeds benefit The Victory Legacy Foundation.
Here's a closer look at the foundation's work and how the book connects to it.
What the Victory Legacy Foundation is
The Victory Legacy Foundation was founded by Sergio and Barbara Von Schmeling to support people in Paraguay, where my dad grew up. It works with children, women, older adults and families facing hardship.
The foundation describes its work in three areas: education, essential supplies and community projects. That includes support for schools and access to basics like food, clothing, toys, mattresses and furniture.
How it started
The work began in 2017, when Sergio and Barbara brought clothes, food, toys and financial help to children in Paraguay. It grew as more donors and volunteers joined in.
According to the foundation, its 2023 donation days benefited more than 6,000 people, including hundreds of families and dozens of nonprofit organizations. The foundation says its work is inspired by the legacy of Don Aristóbulo Von Schmeling.
How the book connects
Victory For Life shares lessons from my dad's life and his years of teaching. Its launch campaign connects that story with support for the foundation through the stated donation of 100% of proceeds.
The foundation's programs cover a range of needs. Its website is a good place to see the projects and find out how to get involved.
