Disney World Packing List for a Week With Kids
A week at Disney with kids lives or dies by what is in your bag. Here is the exact packing list I run through so we are ready for sun, rain, meltdowns, and everything in between.
A full week is a different animal than a long weekend, so this guide is built for seven days: how much of each thing to actually bring, a day-by-day plan for the week, and the mid-week reset that keeps your suitcase from exploding by day four.
How much to pack for 7 days
Here is my secret: I do not pack seven days of clothes. I pack about four or five and do one load of laundry mid-week (more on that below). That keeps the suitcase light and still gets us through the whole trip. This is what I bring per person for the week.
- Tops: 4 to 5, light and breathable
- Bottoms: 3 to 4 pairs of shorts or skorts, plus one pair of pants for cool nights
- Underwear and socks: 6 pairs each (pack extra for the little ones, accidents and puddles happen)
- Swimsuits: 2 each, so one can dry while the other is on
- Pajamas: 2 to 3 sets
- One nicer outfit per person for a sit-down dinner or photos
- A light hoodie or layer for evenings and over-air-conditioned restaurants
- Two pairs of shoes: broken-in park shoes plus sandals or slides for the pool
Everything gets rolled into packing cubes, one cube per person, so mornings are grab-and-go instead of digging through a shared suitcase.
For the park bag (every day)
- Handheld or clip fan and cooling towels
- Portable charger (your phone is your tickets and app)
- Refillable water bottles and plenty of snacks
- Sunscreen, hats, and rain ponchos
- Blister bandages and a tiny first-aid pouch
- A change of clothes for the kids
For the suitcase
- Light, breathable clothes and one warm layer for cool evenings
- Comfortable, broken-in shoes (never new shoes)
- Swimsuits for the resort pool
- Laundry pods so you can pack less and wash mid-trip
A week at Disney, day by day
Seven days is a lot of park time, and doing full days back to back is how a whole family ends up crying by Wednesday. This is the rhythm I plan around. Move the parks to fit your reservations, but keep the shape: a soft start, a rest day in the middle, and a slow finish.
- Day 1, arrival: travel in, settle into the resort, easy dinner and the pool. No park. Everyone naps or swims and we start the week rested.
- Day 2, Magic Kingdom: the big one first while everyone is fresh. Rope drop, midday break back at the resort, back for fireworks if the kids can hang.
- Day 3, EPCOT: a slower-paced day with lots of snacking and shade. Great for littler kids.
- Day 4, rest and reset: resort day or a water park, plus laundry (see below). This is the day that saves the second half of the trip.
- Day 5, Hollywood Studios: back to full-speed with everyone recharged.
- Day 6, Animal Kingdom: get there early before it heats up, then head out midday.
- Day 7, favorite park or slow morning: re-do whichever park everyone loved most, or take a relaxed morning and travel home without the rush.
The mid-week reset (day 4)
This is the trick that lets you pack for four days and stay a week. On the rest day I run one load of laundry with the pods I brought, refold everything back into the packing cubes, and restock the park bag while I am at it.
- Wash and re-roll clothes back into cubes so the second half feels freshly packed
- Refill the consumables: sunscreen, snacks, ponchos, and any bandages you burned through
- Recharge everything: portable chargers, fans, and headphones for the kids
- Toss what is done: broken sunglasses, empty snack bags, that one shoe with a hole
Don't forget
- A stroller (a travel stroller you can gate-check)
- Any comfort items for naps and bedtime
- Medications and a thermometer, just in case

Frequently asked questions
What should I pack for a week at Disney World?
A daily park bag (fan, charger, water, snacks, sun and rain gear, first aid) plus light clothes, comfy shoes, swimsuits, a stroller, and comfort items.
Can you bring a backpack into Disney World?
Yes, bags are allowed and go through security. A comfortable park backpack with your essentials is the way to go.
What shoes should kids wear at Disney?
Broken-in, comfortable closed-toe shoes. Never bring brand-new shoes, blisters will end a day fast.
How many outfits do I need for a week at Disney?
About 4 to 5 tops and 3 to 4 bottoms per person, not a full seven days' worth. Bring laundry pods and do one load on your rest day, and you can pack light and still make it through the whole week.
Should you do the parks every day of a week-long trip?
I would not. Plan a soft arrival day, a rest or water park day in the middle, and a slow final day. Back-to-back full park days with kids is how everyone burns out. A midweek break saves the second half of the trip.
